A band nerd’s dark academia music suggestions
David Maslanka- Neoromanticism, intertwined with Bible and classics, “A Child’s Garden of Dreams” is definitely a favorite, but all his works are heavenly. I even wrote about it in my college application.
John Mackey’s “Wine-Dark Sea”- I’m currently playing “Until the Scars”, which is an adaptation of “Hubris” from this piece. It revolves around The Odyssey and does a magnificent job storytelling.
Frank Ticheli’s “Angels in the Architecture”- if there is anything you get from this post, please please please listen to this masterpiece.
Chopin’s Nocturnes- as sexy as piano music can get tbh
Sakari Oramo’s “Symphony No. 5 in C-sharp minor IV: Adagietto”- a sensitive composition
Alma Gluck- opera from the early 20th century, I love hearing the age of the recording. HER VOICE hnggg
